The aim of the project was to design and program an input unit which can detect states of up to four buttons on one cable using passive components. The information about a button press must be signalized using a few LED diodes and also sent to a super ordinate control unit via the bus system. The core of the unit is a microcomputer Atmel ATmega64 which controls a few basic integrated circuits to assure needed functions. To communicate with the control unit, standards CAN or RS-485 can be used. The software solution was realized by low-level programming language C. The prototype of the input unit proved highly stable and resistant to supply voltage fluctuation.
