Design of adaptive PID controllers

This diploma thesis is focused on the design of adaptive PID controller for a first-order system with time delay. The final algorithm is intended for use in batch processes, where the adaptation doesn't proceed on-line but in the batches. The adaptive mechanism is divided into two parts. There is an identification of variations in controlled system in the first part. The identification is done only on the basis of the closed-loop step response. The second part is focused on the design of adaptive PID controller. For the design the methods of numerical optimization and the methods based on gain and phase margins are used.
